Minisail

Le voilier Minisail est construit par Richmond Marine en Royaume-Uni. Ce monocoque, gréé en Cat boat haubané, réalisé par l'architecte naval Ian Proctor, mesure 3.96 m de long avec un tirant d'eau maximum de 0.61 m. La production a démarré en 1959.

The inspiration for the MINISAIL, and it's variants, may have derived from the enormous popularity of the Alcort SAILFISH and SUNFISH in the US.
One version states that Ian Proctor first saw boats of this type on a visit to America as a journalist reporting on the Americas Cup.
A number of variations exist: (See the minsail web site, 'minisail.org.uk', which covers the entire subject very thoroughly.)
The prototype was from Chippendale.
Chippendale, Bossom?s Boatyard and Plycraft were licensed to produce the first MINISAIL's which were built of plywood. (flat decks and no cockpit, as was the original SAILFISH in the US).
